Steps to Running a Successful PTO Fundraiser
1. Come up with a new idea or take over an existing fundraiser. If your idea is new, get approval from the PTO and from Mr. Beaudry.
2. Set a date for your fundraiser.
3. Choose a location. If you need to use the all-purpose room or a room in the school, you will need to obtain a Building Usage Application from the office and submit it for approval from Mr. Beaudry. Be sure to allow time for set-up and clean up when requesting the time needed for the room.
4. Create a flyer. Get the flyer approved by Mr. Beaudry and the PTO president.
5. Make copies. PTO paper is in the PTO closet. Using the sibling count sheet in the copy room, copy the amount in the sibling count column for each teacher. Paperclip the copies together for each teacher, attaching a post-it note on the top of the copies with the name of the teacher. Give to the office to put in the teacher’s boxes. Notices only go out on Wednesdays, so plan to have the copies done by Tuesday.
6. (Optional) Advertise your fundraiser around town. The Buzz Around and Halifax Reporter are some good places to start, and also place flyers in areas such as the library bulletin board.
7. Recruit people to help you out on the day of your fundraiser, and also with setup and cleanup if necessary. If needed, ask the PTO president to send out a message asking for help.
8. Contact the PTO treasurer a few days before your fundraiser to obtain a cash box.
9. After your fundraiser is over, return the cash box to the PTO treasurer as soon as possible.
